I love the irony when so called feminists represent men as a cohesive group of oppressors.

If this is implying that Islam is sexist, then you really need to rethink this deviation.

Because religion will never be the cause of sexism ever.

:iconroman-utopia-panacea:
Uh actually it is, the bible, the Torah, the Quran, most holy books usually put women down and label them as inferior. In all, religion puts lots of limits on women.

What the hell are you talking about?? Throughout religious history, most holy books state women to be inferior or second fiddle to men, bieng put limits on.

You're framing this as a "Religion vs. Atheist" issue. It's not a religious problem, it's a men problem.

Men tell women they're "inferior," not religion.

The BIBLE, QURAN and TORAH state it. I'm not aethiest either, you presumptuous person.

Truth be told, religion IS sexism especially Islam. In all of the holly books, women are treated as slaves like if they exist only for men to enjoy their body.

I have nothing personal against religious people but I DO have something against religion itself

Sexism is the first reason I an atheist

That's probably because the holy books were written in a time when sexism wasn't even a word, when that kind of treatment towards women was considered acceptable. It's getting very outdated. Another thing is that the bible was put together by a bunch of old men, and since they figured women were less worth than men, they removed Mary Magdalene's evangelium, and changed parts of the bible to make it seem like she was a whore (But now in the later days, they've found out that she actually wasn't a whore, she was one of Jesus' closest diciples.). I even heard from my former French teacher that they once established that women don't have souls. o_0 Islam is even more sexist, though.
But the thing is, I don't think sexism is because of religion, I think it's more because men are physically stronger than women, so perhaps that's what gave the people in the ancient times the idea that men were more worth than women or something. But religion might've strengthened those ideas even more, because then people think sexism is "God's idea" and that it's right because "God says so", and you know that whatever God says is right, no matter what ridiculous things God says. :sarcasticclap: The people of ancient Greece and Rome were very sexist, though, and they didn't have one God that told them to be sexist, they had a whole bunch of gods, both male and female. Surpisingly, vikings were not sexist. o.0 So anyway, I just wanted to say that I don't really think sexism is because of religion, I think it's more a result of when someone wants power, and then they get these ideas that they deserve this power because they're "superior". It's kind of like the same thing with racism, where someone convinces themselves that they're "superior" and more worth than those that are different from them, and therefore they deserve to rule over them, or something like that.

That may be true, but still, one must admit that every nationality is or was sexist and its for most of the part because of religion. The interpretation of the holy books allowed men to use people's sometimes blind faith to make them believe that it was the divine will to make women inferior

true, but sexism goes both ways. whilst sexist behavior in history is generally female directed, women do direct it at men as well. Ironically caused by the aforementioned female oriented bigotry.

very nice design there ..
but just for the record...the vail is absolutly not about being sexist or anything...infact all woman wear the veil out of their own will and for their own reasons...
so, i would recommend it that you make some research, because you wouldnt wanna make such a great design based on an idea that is not correct..
take care :)

hi, and thanx for asking..
actually, i am just a normal muslim person and i dont particularly know everything the Quran says about women and i am not a scholar or anything..but from what i know women are surly treated equelly in islam and its absurd to think otherwise, infact, women's rights where acknowledged in islam way before they were in modern societies. islamic history speaks of great roles of some women in the islamic state while women were treated terribly in the dark ages in europe.i can refer to some sources later...
i hope this was a bit helpful, and please get back to me and we can elaborate further.

well, your looking to much into it. Your coming from a bias point of view, you have a strong belief on what you are saying. I can see that clearly, however. My message is not that they have to wear that veil. It's about violence and how bad it can get, if you look in the face of the women there, you can see a fist strike in the reflection of her eyes. It is meant to try and get the reader to see what it would feel like to be a victim. I'm also not saying that violence exists in just these kinds of cultures either, I made a number of posters for this subject that I submitted to my school. This is my favorite and it impacts my feelings on the subject. But that is what art is about, everyone gets there own ideas. What you are doing right now, is telling me I'm wrong. When really you know nothing about the message that I was trying to put out. I guess thats what the description section is for, maybe I'll start using it.

take care

well....i would really like to know what exactly you mean when you say victim...
and im not really telling you that you're wrong, after all you have complete freedom to have whatever ideas you believe in and i have no right to tell you that its wrong...but all i'm saying is, maybe its a missunderstanding, i mean...violence, victim, sexism...those are strong words on the issue of the veil...did you actually talk to a woman wearing a veil and did she tell you she was suffering or anything? i dont think so...
so i'm not really presenting my bias point of view, but i happen to know for fact why a woman would or would'nt wear the veil, i've made my research on the subject, and i have consequently formulated my oppinion based on that, and not just on the fact that i'm a muslim...
and i would just like to point out that this is a very healthy discution and i'm actually very happy with it, we are not fighting you know...
and really...take care :)

I'm not fighting at all, I'm just pointing out that your talking about a veil when my idea has nothing to do with that. The only reason you are making this discussion is because you are muslim, and you think everyone has the wrong idea. Well, I could take this womens eyes and photoshop them onto a white womens face if that would change anything? It has nothing to do with what she is wearing, I also did not say anything about that in my description. What you are doing is relating yourself to my artwork, maybe someone you know or somewhere you read that people think muslim women are meant to wear the veil or something...This really has nothing to do with my design layout, and as you can see I did not take this photo. So again, I am just humoring you...I could really care less as this has nothing to do with the subject. Anyways, this was a little off topic. Thanks for the comments.
